ya know what? traveling is expensive!! i think that is the most important thing that travel 2.0 has taught me.
but seriously, the sites i like the best were the blogging sites - it's fun to hear travel stories and get ideas about what i might like to do and where i might like to do it. however, if i were serious about going somewhere i would probably check all of the different travel site categories before i made a final decision. reading a travel blog is informative in terms of inspiring you to actually go somewhere but other review sites are necessary to book rooms/flights and find out how much the trip might actually cost you. the last type of site, the mashups, are helpful too. i liked fastfoodmaps.com - i'm a bit of a wimp and i like being able to anticipate steady meals of food i can stomach.

also, i looked at hotels in winnipeg and did not find a room for under $86 per night - is that normal???

i really didn't do a whole lot of experimenting with different ways of using or accessing twitter - i really don't see myself ever doing any of those things. i did, however, sign up for photo-sharing, but nave not added anything yet. i did add the twitter photo sharing thing to my blog, though, so when/if i do add something it will show up here. i also added myself to the twitter directory.
i don't use twitter as much as i thought i would when i first discovered it. i think it's a wonderful thing, but i don't really have a whole lot of time in one day to constantly update something like that. plus, i don't know a whole lot of people that are on twitter. i have tried introducing people, but i find that a lot of people i talk to about it are skeptical.
in any case, i find twitter to be a fine social network that is set apart from most others. it allows a different type of interaction with people online that doesn't really happen on things like facebook. i used to think social networking sites were a total waste of time, but twitter, and facebook before it, have proved me wrong. go twitter!

i didn't really do anything new with my rss reader but i did add it to my blog. i already know how to do everything i want to do with my reader, and delicious, too. i like delicious, even though i don't use it that much. i found insuggest useful and i was able to find a few new sites with it, and i added a delicious button to the blog.

I ALMOST DELETED MY BLOG!!!! it was scary.

anyhow, for this thing i set up google alerts for my email. this is actually pretty great because you will be notified whenever something new happens in whatever topic you specify. so, instead of searching the web for the latest news on stimulus packages and what not, you will have the latest news delivered right to your email account. i like this service and it was really easy to set up.

i also set up a google calander, which i'm not sure if i'll actually use. i can see how this would be very useful to individuals or businesses , but to me personally it seems like too much work to have to log into my google account to see what i'm supposed to do that day. i will at least try to use it though, and we'll see if it lasts.

i created my homepage with my yahoo, since i already had a yahoo email account. i don't know if i have the energy to use this sort of thing everyday, but if i did it would be quite useful. there are lots of fun things you can do with it, many ways to personalize it. i like the idea of being able to consolidate all of the things we have done so far, but have not been able to figure out how to add my delicious account or any other outside link yet. i don't know if this is just how yahoo is set up or if i just need to play around a bit more. perhaps i will check out google or some of the other homepage service providers since i didn't really shop around before setting mine up. in any case i would like some way of combining every thing i have done so far in one place, so i will be working on that...

TWITTER IS AMAZING!!!!!!! i am in love with twitter and i will probably use it on my own time regularly. this is by far my favorite thing so far. i really didn't see what use it could possibly be at first but then i found that i could follow newspapers, politicians, authors, artists, etc. very fun. EVERYBODY SHOULD BE ON TWITTER!!!
